Well, well, well... It has been a long few weeks but finally Australia is on the horizon and 25 days away!! I am so excited for my trip and to see as much of that country as possible in my 3 weeks there.
But whilst still in London town there is still a lot going on. I am still playing netball with our team, The Penguins. Last week we were smashed into a humiliating defeat by the Wimbledon Netball Club who were always going to be a tough team to beat but our hearts just were in it and we went down 28 - 11. Hopefully this week we will be back in fighting form!!!
Friday night was a quiet one at home preparing for a ripper of a weekend, and what a weekend it was. Paul flew over from Ireland for the weekend and on Saturday I met up with him, Scotty and Ricky to go and check out Richmond. Ridiculously enough Richmond is only 10 mins away from me on the train and I have only ever been there twice and never been to the riverfront which the area is famous for.
We met up at the Putney train station and jumped a train. Richmond is really a lovely part of London and as hectic as it is in winter, once summer comes it is apparently really hard to move on the pavements and avoid the bicyclists and rollerbladers along the riverfront.
Once we got there we wandered up the High street and then headed off to the riverfront which we heard has some lovely restaurants and pubs.
After a wander around and finding a severe lack of the above mentioned pubs we settled on the Pitcher and Piano which is in a beautiful old building. Here we settled down and awaited the arrival of our drinks and Grant Smee (who in his infinte wisdom had decided to drive into Richmond on a saturday afternoon! Madness!!)
It was really good to hang out with my friends again and really lovely to see Paulie again. It is always too long when it comes to us getting together...
After lunch we went for a bit more of a walk down the river and then headed to Starbucks to go and meet another of Paul's old friends. After that I had to say goodbye and head of to Kate and Paula's for an amazing night.
Saturday night was Paula's 30th birthday and as a present from Kate, Tom (Paula's boyfriend), Tara and I, Kate had ordered a Karma Kar (you have to see it to believe it, check out www.karmakars.net) to take us to the venue.
Paula had no idea about the kar and when it pulled up outside she started bouncing up and down!!! Was a superb present. We even had the owner of the company, Tobias, driving us and as we had booked it for an hour before needing to get to the party he drove us around and showed us where some of his more famous clients live and hang out!
When we finally got to the Paradise Bar we were definitely all in the right Karma and proceeded to have a great party in a gorgeous venue! Ended up being a late one and finding a cab to take us home at the end of the night was a bit of a mission but well worth it and would not have missed it for the world! Paula was suprised so many times that night and ended up thinking that 30 is not so bad after all!!
The next morning was another story altogether... Hangovers looming we all headed to the kitchen to make the ultimate breakfast... Bacon, porkies, baked beans, scrambled egg and smoked salmon, bloody mary's and champers and orange juice... the alcohol was quickly discarded as we all realised after a few sips it really was the last thing we felt like. Then we plonked down in front of the telly to take in the latest episode of the OC. After that I headed home and then out to meet Rob and Tea (Garry's brother and sister-in-law) for dinner. I wasn't even hungry but the company was good so I'm glad I went.
And now it is the start of a new week....
